Opal glanced out the window of her uncle’s pickup truck. A light drizzle, accompanied by fog as thick as butter decorated the suburban landscape. It reminded her of Minnesota, her home state, with its rolling hills, tall, leafless trees, and the occasional bank of dirty snow.
