Okay so I've been wondering why people draw Fang pictures and make him ghost white? Or why his profile picture is also white when James Patterson clearly wrote more than once that he has dark skin! In the manga and on the book covers! Probably in the movie too! Anyway it just bugs me when people say he's emo and pale white and all that other stuff. He has olive skin and he's quiet; his life spent in a cage made him careful what he says, ga! This just gets me worked up sometimes.
Oh, how I miss the old website where Fang was just Fang...

Fang's described as "olive-skinned." He's not black.

I am with you, even in the movie he is going to get up being white, they all are going to end up being white except Nudge.

Yeah and the clubs you could be in and all the polls and the silly people and I liked the layout better too.

No, he looks about fourteen or fifteen.

Sorry, I put black. I just meant dark skin. I know it doesn't say black (and that just makes me dumb, it's almost as bad as the people I got angry at). What I did mean was olive skin, sorry. It's just I really don't like how light (pale) pictures depict him. And that picture posted, yes it is darker skin and fine with me! I really don't care that much as long as he's not stereotypically emo with his milk white skin.

They don't usually show subtle differences in skin tone in mangas, since they're in black-and-white. I don't have much to back this up since there aren't many non-white characters in mangas, but, like... Brock in Pokémon.

Plus, even if that argument is invalid and stupid, you've got to remember that the manga artist is not a native english speaker. How the hell is she supposed to know what "olive skin" is?

I meant on the cover he's white and I'm sure she got character descriptions translated into the language she speaks.

Maximum Ride hasn't been translated into Korean. The manga artist speaks English, but I don't imagine her vocabulary containing stuff like "olive-skinned."

I'm sure she just didn't decided to right the manga and then get permission. She probably got outlines, character profiles, things to add in for later in the plot and so on. Even if she doesn't know what olive skin is she could look it up or ask someone seeing as she speaks English.
But really the thing I mostly care about is people saying he has pale skin.
