Has anybody considered this idea of no one will know the time or the place the world ends as a metaphor for when death takes you? After all, the world is over for you. Perhaps thats what it means.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36.
This is Jesus replying to a question from the disciples asking when the end will. It is clearly talking about the second coming, not each person's individual death.

I disagree. It isn't that clear. And, there's always the possibility of a mistranslation. Never forget that.

I've studied that chapter and read three different comentaries on it written by people like Wesley who know a heck of a lot about the Bible.
The disciples asked when the end was and Jesus answered with a long spiel including that.

The Aztecs believed that human sacrifices where required for the sun to rise. They believed that if blood was not spilled for the sun gods then the sun would not rise and the world would be plunged into eternal darkness.

@Emma Y, you don't think that people aren't killed every day? People ARE killed brutally every single day, not just one or two; but dozens. You must truly be ignorant to think that they aren't, because the USA isn't equal to the world. In some places people live in total fear because at any point in time someone could come into their house and murder them with no consequences.

So no, not enough said.

I don't really know if I believe in it or not. I mean, wasn't the year 2000 supposed to be the end of the world , too?
Anyways, I guess you'd have to ask me around that time. Like a month away from it. I'd probably determin my answer on how well the enviorment is doing by then, you know?
